THE AUCTION

Every year we hold an auction to raise funds to cover the cost of holding the event. This year is no different and the popularity of our auction has grown so we are expecting a massive turn out of birds.

How it works is that ZFS Members are asked to donate Zebra Finches or at very least set a low reserve so that we can raise funds from the sales over and about these reserves. Usually our members are very generous so the quality of these Zebra Finches are very good. This year we are opening up the auction to encompass any Foreign Finches also. So we expect to see an huge turn out of birds, from Gouldian Finches to African Waxbills.

How to enter birds into the Auction.
1. Contact the organiser and let him know that you intend placing birds into the auction prior to the date, this will give us a good idea of how much benching space we need to allow for.
2. On the show day bring your auction birds to the auction area and give the organiser you reserves.
3. All birds entered must be bred in the UK and be in good health, be displayed in an appropriate, clean cage with ample seed and water.
4. Any birds entered must be logged in, or you will not get your cages back at the end of the day - or any money!

How to bid on birds
1. Anybody can bid on birds, but non-members must give their full details to the organiser prior to doing so.
2. There are no silly bids, a minimum bid of £5 will start the auction, and this will increment by £2 until we hit the price of £15, after which bids will increase by £5 minimum.
3. If you have placed a bid during the day you must report back to the organiser when the auction ends and he will notify you if you were successful.
